Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is among ABC's original Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on every season of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second in the family of 10 children and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and the next during Corcoran's youth. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran had difficulty at school and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. Corcoran was proficient in several courses during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
